Luxury vinyl tile is an adaptable flooring

Luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) adapts well to any household activity. The flooring can stand up to a litter of puppies, a large party, or a messy cook. It also adds a touch of class to any room, whether the decor is rustic or ultra-modern. In addition to an attractive hardwood, stone, or ceramic look, luxury vinyl tiles offer practical features like wear, stain, and scratch resistance. Karrianna Flooring in Lexington, Kentucky, provides an assortment of luxury vinyl tile flooring. Top companies manufacture our superior LVT brands.

Core layer

Luxury vinyl is a composite flooring material that has four layers. The backing layer brings stability to the tile, and it protects both the flooring and the subfloor. The core layer tops this bottom layer. Typically, the core is made of vinyl and fiberglass or plasticizer. This waterproof core makes up the majority of the tile. Because of this tough core, the tile is not damaged by water even if it is saturated for an extended period. Since water does not change the tile in any way, its lifespan is not shortened when it becomes wet.

Wear layer

The wear layer determines the durability of a tile. This transparent surface layer protects the design layer, which is created with high tech graphic imaging technology. Luxury vinyl is thicker than standard vinyl so that it can be deeply embossed. Consequently, synthetic flooring presents a realistic image of natural flooring materials. A thick wear layer adequately protects the image. Look for a brand that has a 20+ mil surface layer. Some of the best brands even have an additional protective coating on top of the wear layer.

The majority of LVT is installed as a floating floor. With its click and lock design, tiles connect, so they do not need to be attached to the subfloor. Underlayment is either pre-attached to the flooring, or a separate layer is placed on the subfloor. This layer of padding provides cushioning, along with insulation and noise reduction. Glue down and peel and stick tiles are available and loose-lay tiles that feature friction grip backing.
